OVERVIEW

Folashade Alloh is an experienced lecturer in public health and health promotion. She teaches epidemiology and health promotion for undergraduate students. She is supervisor on the MSc Public Health programme. She is also a researcher in public health with focus on non-communicable diseases among minority groups in the UK. Since commencing her role at UEL, Folashade has collaborated with the RAMHHE campaign and research initiative that seeks to raise mental health awareness in the UK. In addition, she has recently written on the COVID-19 disparity among the black population in the UK in BMJ. She is collaborating with researchers in the department of biochemistry, ABU Zaria, Nigeria on inhibitory effect of plant extracts on snake venom to help develop less expensive snake venom neutralizer in Nigeria. Her research interest cuts across health sciences and biomedical sciences.

  • For her PhD, Folashade Alloh obtained the prestigious Bournemouth University VC scholarship and conducted a constructivist grounded theory research approach among west African immigrants living with diabetes in the UK. Folashade is involved in mental health research among University students with focus group sessions and questionnaire survey to better understand mental health challenges within University setting.
