Cricket
UEL Cricket Club has grown from strength to strength. We welcome male and female players of all abilities and thrive on creating an environment to ensure you develop as a player regardless of your level.
Our winter competition is the Indoor BUCS Competition and our summer programme consists of five 50-over matches. The Cricket Club achieved three promotions in three years and in the 2019-20 season we will be playing in South Eastern 2B.
The Cricket Club is a very proactive club. The committee have maximised overseas opportunities by arranging pre-season tours to help players prepare for the outdoor season. The Cricket Club toured India in 2013, Holland in 2014, India in 2015 and Sri Lanka in 2016.
Arfan Akram has been part of UEL for many years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Arfan works in a partnership role with University of East London and Essex County Cricket Club.
Arfan comes with vast cricket experience; he is an ECB qualified coach and tutor. Having played professionally for Essex CCC, Arfan has represented Cambridge University MCCU, The Unicorns, Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club, and the MCC.
Arfan also sits on various boards and committees such as the MCC, Essex Cricket League, and Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation.
Training is held every Tuesday from 6.00-8.00pm at SportsDock.
The cricket programme runs year round. During the winter months the Club is based at SportsDock, UEL’s state-of-the-art sports complex. Sessions are run by our Head Cricket Coach, Arfan Akram who shares a role at UEL with Essex County Cricket Club.
