Legal advice can be expensive and for people who are often going through difficult times, finding guidance can be a daunting experience. Our students, under the watchful eye of their supervisors, volunteer their time and expertise to help people navigate the legal jargon and forms.
The clinic offers advice on four key areas: Consumer rights, family law, tenants’ rights and welfare applications. The students also draft information leaflets to help people understand legal hot topics in an accessible way.
During the COVID-19 pandemic the advice centre switched their advice online to continue to support people. The advice centre helped people assert their renter rights, claim universal credit and negotiate Child Arrangements Orders.
