Alvaro is a midwife with national and international clinical experience. He has trained and worked in the UK as a clinical midwife and educator, with a special interest in high-risk pregnancies, high-dependency unit care in obstetric settings and normalising childbirth for women who are considered high-risk due to medical conditions. 

He has worked abroad forming part of NGO (non-governmental organisations) teams in North Africa where he supported the development of women’s health clinics. He is also part of volunteer lectures visiting Africa where he delivers obstetric emergency training and as an adviser on midwifery care education in South America. 

As an educator, Alvaro is passionate about making learning interactive by including the use of augmented reality and clinical simulation in midwifery training.
