On the completion of this course, you will have developed both advanced design skills and the experience to develop yourself with advanced creative design methods and processes. How you'll learn

You will learn through a series of design exercises. You will experiment through trial and error. You will develop rigorous design proposals for specific sites. You will redesign interventions for existing spaces, you will propose temporary structures, and you will make models of different materials to test design concepts.

The programme will be taught in small groups, in a studio format. Exercises will include both individual and group work.

The modules will be taught in the cutting-edge workshops of the School, around round-table vivid discussions in the vibrant studio environment, along with visits to the Excel International Exhibition Centre (situated next to our campus), during walks through London's most inspiring galleries and museums, and occasionally over a coffee at East London's designer cafes.

MA Interior Design students may be asked to pay an additional one-off fee of £50 - £200 to UEL to cover subject-specific expenses of the School.

How you will be assessed

You will be assessed through your constant engagement with design exercises, workshops, studio tutorials, as well as through final presentations, essays and portfolio.

Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be able to:

  • Grasp, understand and discuss verbally and in writing complex design ideas and concepts.
  • Transform concepts and ideas into resolved design proposals.
  • Work as part of a team, and also work independently 
  • Develop methods and processes for addressing design problems
  • Produce a thorough design project and present it through drawings and models of high quality.
  • Present a design proposal through a range of adequate representational techniques.
  • Have a professional attitude, ethos, and a desire to always enquire and expand your skills further.
