Learn by doing and deliver real change

Civic engagement is at the heart of almost everything that happens at UEL. As a student, you’ll participate in real-world, off-campus projects that deepen your learning experience while giving you the chance to make a real difference in your community, be it local or global.

In 2015 we created a special Civic Engagement Fund, and launched it by giving £100,000 to nearly two dozen projects ranging from lung cancer awareness to promoting financial literacy.

We also established London Scholars, where students work with staff to address some of the challenges we see every day in London. London Scholars builds on the success of our Global Scholars programme, which provides funding for social enterprise projects around the world.

Composing gospel music with schoolchildren, looking at the role of football in Asian communities, setting up a dairy farm in Ghana – the possibilities are endless. How will you make civic engagement part of your UEL experience?
