What will be required?

For your workshop audition, you will need to prepare a 2-minute monologue. Please make sure that you stick to this timing. This can be one of the below:

  1. A monologue
  2. A piece of spoken word with a strong character base/narrative
  3. Self-written original piece.

Our in-person auditions will be held on our Performing Arts floor at University Square Stratford (USS Building). Please report to the main reception desk when you arrive.

Please note the address carefully, as there are three different campuses at UEL:

University of East London
University Square Stratford (USS)
1 Salway Road
London, E15 1NF
United Kingdom

Unfortunately, there is no parking available on site.

You will need to arrive at the USS (University Stratford Square) building reception at 9.30 am for registration. Someone will then come down to register you and show you up to the studios. The process is expected to finish by 12.00 pm.

What do you need for the on-campus audition?

Please wear clothes and footwear that you can move freely in, as the workshop will be quite physical. We will explore acting techniques for stage and screen within ensemble exercises. The workshop gives us an opportunity to see you working both independently and as part of a team. Please bring water to drink, and a notebook and pen in case you want to take any notes. It would be a good idea to think about and write down any questions that you'd like to ask the lecturers and/or the current students and bring those too.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for applicants that are ready to enter an Actor Training. We are looking for applicants that care and are passionate about performance and acting. Applicants who have an open mind and are curious to learn, study, value and explore all forms and styles of acting technique. Applicants who are able to follow instructions and respond to advice and feedback offered. A professional and mature approach to both practical and theoretical perspectives on an actor's process and are ready to grow through the programme.

What happens after you attend the interview?

We will notify you of the outcome of your interview through your UCAS Track or we will send you an email with our decision. If you receive a place, you will be required to accept/decline your place as per UCAS deadlines/the deadline in your email. You are also welcome to attend our offer holder or open days to gain more understanding of the course.
