OVERVIEW
Paul is a professionally qualified (JNC) Youth and Community worker and holds a BA Hons in Applied Youth and Community Work and MA in Social Justice and Education. He has worked extensively with young people and communities in the voluntary and statutory sectors as a young volunteer and qualified youth and community worker. His experience of working with young people includes health promotion work and youth media projects.
Prior to joining UEL Paul was the national youth programme manager at the Development Education Association with a responsibility for the development of 'global youth work' looking at issues of social justice and the impact of globalisation on the lives of young people. This involved producing publications and web resources, responding to government policy initiatives and providing training and support for youth and community organisations on how to integrate a global dimension into their work, and international NGOs on how to develop informal education programmes with young people. Whilst working in national organisations Paul was also engaged as a consultant for a number of organisations and national government working groups (for example a DfES youth work unit working group on sustainable development education). Currently Paul is the programme leader for the MA Youth and Community Work professionally validated, (JNC) programme at UEL and the School of Education and Communities Quality Leader.
