Badminton
PLEASE NOTE: Training has adapted according to the sport governing body. Please contact the club for more information.
Our Badminton Club is open to players who are passionate about badminton and those looking to improve their health. You can play either individually or as part of a team, and create lasting friendships on and off the court.
Badminton will develop your team work skills, increase your fitness levels, and improve your aerobic stamina, agility, speed and precision.
We have a men’s badminton team who represent UEL in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and Cup on Wednesday afternoons. For female participants, or those who wish not to compete we have weekly Move East London sessions.
Even if you’re not a player but have a passion for the game and want to get involved, the Badminton Club is always looking for people to officiate, blog, write match reports and act as committee.
The Badminton Club are coached by experienced and highly dedicated coaches provided by Black Arrows Badminton Club who are a community partner of UEL.
Training takes place every Monday from 4.00-6.00pm in SportsDock, which is located on the Docklands campus.
There are many benefits to playing badminton at UEL, including:
- Opportunity to socialise with other students and make friends.
- Socialise together outside of training and host social nights.
- Physical benefits - badminton is a very fast-paced sport and can help burn off up to 450 calories per hour!
- Great way to take your mind off of studying and assignments for just two hours a week plus matches.

I love being part of the UEL Badminton Club. Getting to represent UEL every week in BUCS and train in UEL SportsDock, has made my time in University!"
