Overview
Athletics at UEL
The UEL athletics programme attracts some of the very best athletes from the UK and abroad including Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
UEL is a fully established top 10 UK university for Track and Field with a particularly rich history in sprint and hurdle events. Most recently at the British University Championships (BUCS) in 2019, UEL finished 5th overall in the indoor championships.
The programme prides itself on its comprehensive support package while studying, which allows athletes to train with their chosen coach and receive some of the best athlete care in the country.
Current students consists of Jona Efoloko who is the World u20 200m Gold Medallist, as well as Shannon Hylton who won Gold in the 2018 Athletics World Cup in the 4x100m relay. Alumni include TeamGB 200m athlete and two time Olympian Adam Gemili, who has worn the UEL kit with pride while continuing to achieve high level success athletically and academically.
