Graduate outcomes
Graduate outcomes survey
What’s the Graduate Outcomes Survey?
It’s a way to understand more about your career path and experiences after leaving higher education.
Do I need to take the survey?
Taking the survey helps you and your fellow UEL alumni. By giving up to date information about your employment you can help UEL become more reputable and your degree to go further.
How do I take the survey?
HESA, the organisation that delivers the survey, will be in touch via e-mail or phone to complete the survey. HESA want to collect as many responses as possible. It’s best to take 10 minutes to complete the survey and avoid multiple emails and calls!
I don’t have my survey!
Just in case, check your spam folder to make sure it not there. If your details are not up to date, like you changed your phone number or email address, use our form to update your details.
What job title should I use?
You want to ensure your role is accurately recorded; sometimes job titles don’t reflect what you actually do. Look out for terms like Assistant, where you may have managerial responsibilities where you need a degree. Make sure that’s mentioned in your duties.
What if I’m a carer, travelling, volunteering, or working on a portfolio?
That’s ok! If you’re not pursuing your career at this time because you’re a carer, travelling, volunteering, or working on a portfolio, make sure to say that.
What if I’m still studying while I have a part-time job?
A lot of people need to earn while still studying. Ensure you say that you’re studying as it’s the most important part of your career aspirations. Studying is your main activity!

Daniel is the creator, founder, and host of the Beyond Football initiative. As the creative director and owner of the Beyond Football™ and it's IP, he provides valuable insights on personal growth and development for athletes and non-athletes alike through his YouTube channel and podcast series.
He says, “UEL has profoundly shaped my values and perspectives, particularly around the importance of community and the power of diverse voices. At UEL, I participated in numerous group projects and extracurricular activities that allowed for collaboration and inclusivity. My UEL network has been instrumental in my career progression. The connections I made at UEL have opened doors to various professional opportunities and provided me with valuable mentorship. For instance, one of my lecturers introduced me to a prominent figure in my industry, which led to an internship that became a pivotal moment in my career.
Moreover, the friendships I formed with my peers have developed into a supportive professional network. We regularly exchange insights, advice, and opportunities, which have greatly benefited my career growth and development. The UEL network is a community that continues to provide support and encouragement long after graduation.”
As well as his work with the Beyond Football initiative, Daniel is a professional goalkeeper currently playing for Maidenhead FC. He has come through the renowned academy systems at Chelsea and West Ham United, known for producing world-class talent. With his exceptional shot-stopping abilities, physical presence, and leadership on the pitch, Daniel is a standout player in the National League.
When asked to offer a piece of advice to current students and recent graduates he said, “I would say: embrace every opportunity that comes your way and never underestimate the power of your dreams. Your time at UEL is a unique period where you can explore your interests, develop new skills, and build lasting relationships. Take advantage of the resources available to you, from academic support to extracurricular activities. Remember, challenges are a part of the journey, and every obstacle you overcome will make you stronger and more resilient. Believe in yourself, stay curious, and always be willing to learn and grow. Your potential is limitless, and with dedication and perseverance, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”
Belisa Rexhaj
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, 2023
Belisa is currently working as a Physiotherapist at the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
While Belisa was a student, she was involved in assisting in teaching Physiology, Anatomy, Rehabilitation Modules and mock exams for Anatomy and Manual Handling. These experiences allowed her to create a strong and professional connection with students and professors from different years and courses, which created a solid base for her current role.
She states that “UEL has offered me the foundation for my professional development. It gifted me exposure to different settings and challenges, allowing me to learn both from success and failure. Professors have always been empathetic and happy to share their knowledge. UEL showed me how to become a great therapist and allowed my journey to start with confidence."
Since graduation, Belisa has also volunteered for the wonderful association WeSwim to help people with disabilities defeat social isolation and engage in a lovely and lively swimming session. Her physiotherapy background allowed her to be the perfect candidate to provide further care and support as part of this project.
When asked to offer a piece of advice to current students and recent graduates she said,” You get what you put in. Don't focus on grades, focus on learning. And please be kind to yourself and others.”
Filiz Avcu
Education Studies, 2023
After completing her studies, Filiz secured a full-time job as a Cover Teacher and form tutor at a local secondary school.
About her time at UEL Filiz says, “Lecturers were always on hand to assist. If our questions could not be answered during lectures, we could make use of scheduling an appointment with them to receive assistance. I gained many skills that help me with my role today whilst at UEL including, time management and referencing which have made a great difference and contribution to my life and career.
Filiz secured her role just a couple of months after leaving UEL and before her graduation date, which is something she is very proud of.
When asked to offer a piece of advice to current students and recent graduates she said, “My word of advice would be to make use of the student services most definitely for example assistance from the Wellbeing team, mentors who are on hand and the 24-hour Library. During times when I felt I couldn’t make it, those 3 services kept me strong and provided the outlet that I needed."
Joseph Charles Dobisz
Mechanical Engineering with foundation year, 2023
Since completing his studies Jospeh has secured a role with BAE Systems, BAE Systems provides some of the world's most advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions and employs a skilled workforce of around 100,000 in around 40 countries.
About his time at UEL Joseph says, “My time at UEL revitalised me as a person, in my previous job I was suffering from low motivation, and self-esteem and I could feel myself mentally wasting away. By coming to UEL I have got that motivation back and finally feel like myself again after 15 years! I started at UEL during COVID, doing a foundation year due to my break in education. In the past 3 years since I have made some amazing friends on my course, I have been able to build excellent relationships with lecturers who are experts in their fields and are a firm shoulder to lean on for life advice. I have also had the amazing opportunity to work in the CELT department as an intern, working there with Jamie and the team brought my confidence back at the right time which resulted in me getting my new position.”
Joseph credits lectures Bryan Pearce (now retired) and Sarah Catmur who worked on the whole person rather than just the academic side. As well as Dr Kalok Lee, who worked tirelessly to ensure that all his students achieved the best grades possible!
When asked how UEL has made a significant difference in his life, Joseph said, “Because of the confidence I gained as a leader at UEL I scored the highest in the country in the recruitment process for my new position. The confidence has also had a positive impact on my marriage with my wife telling me how nice it is to see the "old" me back.”
Rajesh Jayachandran
MSc Cloud Computing, 2023
Rajesh Jayachandran graduated from our MSc Cloud Computing degree at UEL In 2023, since graduating he has put all his focus in to securing and job and started working at Citibank as a Devops Engineering as Assistant Vice President in January 2023.
He said, “I decided to study at UEL because It gave me exact blend of courses I was looking for, aligned well with my experience. Also, I happened to see the student satisfaction percentage was beyond 80%.” He goes on to add, “Without UEL I can’t imagine where I would be right now. I learnt the way to articulate my work better and I still admire the way we are evaluated rather than just traditional exams. The education I received was well aligned with industrial expectations and it helped me to blend with corporate world seamlessly.”
We asked Rajesh to give one piece of advice to a current student and he said, “Own your work, let it be yours. Even if that’s small piece of work, let it be your own work with your own efforts. It has its own value and doesn’t matter whether it is in the university or corporate world.”
