2020 May Alumni of the month
Why did you choose to study at UEL?
I chose to study at UEL due to the range of facilities that the fashion department had access that extended beyond the usual ones associated with fashion such as, digital fabrication.
What is your one special memory of your time at UEL?
Celebrating with my classmates after handing in our final submission in our final year. It was a special memory to share together.
What have you done since graduating from UEL?
I have been developing bio-materials for the fashion industry, completed 2 innovative residencies, launched my company CQ Studio and I have also started a masters in Biodesign.
What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
Currently I am running my own company CQ Studio. We develop materials and processes for the fashion and textile industry that are environmentally conscious.
How did UEL help you get to where you are now?
My lecturers really helped shape me into the thinker and creative that I am, without their constant support and advice I would not be where I am today.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Take risks, don't overthink about the results and just do it! Most of the time, the mistakes you are going to make will be the thing that makes you grow!
What advice would you give to UEL current students preparing to graduate?
It can be daunting applying for jobs when you are a recent graduate, don't underestimate your worth and always try and ask for feedback to get better.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:
I've danced on stage with Nile Rodgers.
If you were to do it all again, would you still choose UEL?
Yeah definitely, I made friends with classmates and even lecturers and technicians. It was worth it all.
