Mathew Brown is a part-time (0.4FTE) lecturer teaching on the BA (Hons) Product Design programme at UEL. Mathew gained his BA (Hons) Degree in Product Design at Ravensbourne in 1999 and became a qualified teacher in 2008 being awarded his PGCE in post 16 education from Greenwich University. In 2014, Mathew gained a post-graduate MA qualification in Professional Practice (Design) from Kingston University. His MA thesis explored: "how might 3D printing, open-sourcing, and co-design, improve conditions of dementia".
In addition to the position at UEL, Mathew is also programme leader for a 3D Design HE programme at another institution and has previously worked as visiting senior lecturer for 8 years at UCA.
In addition to his educational and academic background, Mathew has also worked as a self-employed industrial design practitioner working on a diverse range of consultancy and manufacturing based projects. Key clients have so far included: ASB Architects, Herman Miller, John Lewis PLC, and The Conran Shop. Mathew continues to develop his own professional practice and academic research.
