NSS 2022 results show positive results for UEL's computer science and business computing courses.

Business computing courses at UEL ranked first in the country for student voice, and first in London in assessment and feedback, academic support, learning opportunities, and organisation and management in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2022. The courses received an overall satisfaction rate of 92 per cent, which is first in London and fourth nationally out of 21 higher education institutions (HEI).

Computer science ranked first nationally against other HEIs for learning community, and first in London for assessment and feedback, academic support, teaching on my course and learning opportunities and seventh out of 94 nationally with an overall satisfaction rate of 82 per cent.

The NSS invites students to share their experiences of studying at universities and ranks them according to overall satisfaction. Topics measured include, course organisation and management, assessment and feedback, academic support, quality of teaching, development opportunities, student unions and more.

This survey was one of the largest on record - with around 325,000 responses from students across the UK.

Our wide range of computing courses at UEL equip students with the first-hand practical skills that they will need to keep up with a rapidly changing technological landscape.

Our computing courses focus on employability and our computer science and business computing students receive excellent career opportunities with our industry partners including Amazon Web Services and BT.

Dr Aaron Kans, head of the department of computer science and digital technologies, said:

Our computing courses at UEL equip students with the vital skills that they will need to keep up with a rapidly changing industry. "

"We prepare our students for their future careers, where they will be able to use technology to develop innovative solutions which help real people across the world in a learning environment that is both stimulating and rewarding."

"We’re so happy to see how highly our computing courses have been rated by our students in the NSS. Our staff should be extremely proud of their work."

Professor David Tann, dean of Architecture Computing and Engineering (ACE), said: "I am extremely proud to see that our computing courses have achieved such great student satisfaction results in the recent NSS survey.

"Student feedback is incredibly important to us, and we have listened diligently to what our students have said, so we’re very proud that this has been reflected in our results.

"Our staff work incredibly hard to ensure that our students have the best possible experience when studying at UEL."

"We will use these fantastic results to continue our work in enhancing student experience and provide them with opportunities to grow and develop as they prepare for their future careers."
