Particular areas of success on the SPED course were: organisation and management (98 per cent satisfied), academic support (94 per cent satisfied) and learning opportunities (94 per cent satisfied).

The 100 per cent satisfaction rate is up 20 per cent on the 2021 results, which stood at 80 per cent satisfaction.

The NSS invites students to share their experiences of studying at universities and ranks them according to overall satisfaction. Topics measured include, course organisation and management, assessment and feedback, academic support, quality of teaching, development opportunities, student unions and more.

The 2022 NSS Survey was one of the largest on record - with around 325,000 responses from students across the UK.

The Sport, PE and Development course leads to vocational careers across a range of sectors, including special school teaching, public health and community sport campaigns, sports development, community work and prison education.

Course leader Dr Nadia Grubnic, lecturer in Sport, Physical Education and Development, said,

As well as being enjoyable, this course sees high levels of employment upon graduation. Students gain exposure, engagement and practice with a number of different groups, including working with children, adults and those within disability sport, they come out of their comfort zones and build confidence."

"There is a big emphasis on inclusion and diversity, too. Graduates choose careers that play on their academic strengths and people skills. They are highly employable because of their background in research using an evidence base, their understanding of demographics and clear communications skills and how to put ideas across."

This year, the course included a "Developing a Healthy Child" module, which included holistic, applied teaching practice.

There have also been paid placements within Epping Forest District Council, with students working on Public health and community engagement campaigns, including getting people active and helping people recovering from Covid-19.

There have also been events held with Panathlon, a charity which helps children with disabilities to get involved in competitive sport.

Competitions held at UEL's SportsDock facilities ;were officiated and guided by students on the course.

There are also partnerships with local schools in Newham and Havering.
