What we offer

Connecting students with higher education

As compulsory education becomes embedded for years 12 and 13, our Schools and Colleges Team works with partner schools, sixth forms and colleges to connect students with higher education, prepare them for university, and offer skills to boost their confidence in applying for and completing a university degree.

The team works extensively with UEL academics, as well as our ‘Ambassadors’ – current UEL students – who act as mentors and role models. Together, we’re developing an offer to inspire the next generation of students into higher education.

There is a lot of flexibility within the post-16 engagement, allowing for the extensive commitments of the students concerned. The sessions and workshop choice can be discussed with our team members and tailored to meet your needs.

UEL – Bridging the gap

A series of sessions offering vital information to apply for and succeed at UEL are available. These can be delivered on UEL campus sites, with a session lasting up to five hours, or on school or college premises, but the offer may be more streamlined for off-campus settings. Sessions include:

  • Introduction to higher education and UEL
  • UCAS
  • Finance
  • Student life
  • Ambassador Q&A

Experience days

An Experience Day is a bespoke day on a UEL campus, focusing on specific subject areas, to give students an experience of learning at higher education level in their chosen subjects. The sessions are usually led by UEL academics, and are delivered alongside a selection of ‘Bridging the gap’ sessions.

Examples of an Experience Day are:

  • Health and Social Care experience
  • Sports Science experience
  • Sports experience
  • Creative experience
  • Business experience
  • STEM experience
  • Legal experience
